Welcome!

We know that the journey to get here likely has not been an easy one but we are so happy that you are considering Restore for pelvic floor therapy and we promise to always provide a supportive and safe space to help you feel empowered and confident in your body.

Dr Victoria Mallow provides inclusive pelvic floor therapy to those undergoing surgical and non-surgical gender affirming practices

Pre- and Post-Surgical Pelvic Floor Therapy

Pre-operative care: It is essential to have your pelvic floor performing optimally before going into surgery, to ensure proper support, flexibility, and sphincter control. We will walk you through your planned procedure, discuss how we can help with your personal goals, and make sure your pelvic floor muscles have full range of motion, coordination, and strength in order to give you a head start on recovery.

Post-surgical rehab: We will be working alongside your surgeon and their protocol to help you maximize tissue healing after surgery. As with any surgery, scar tissue is to be expected but needs to be addressed in order to minimize restrictions in the muscle and fascia/connective tissue and avoid hypersensitivity which can lead to pain and discomfort long-term.

Procedures

  • Dilator use is critical to maintaining a healthy neo-vaginal canal. After surgery, we will work with you to gain confidence and independence in using these devices at home. We will work together in the office to further promote healing and recovery.

  • We will work with you on addressing restrictions in the skin, connective tissue, and muscles, along with promoting incision healing, to assist with optimal use of this body part.

  • After several weeks of healing, dictated by your surgeon, PT can help to ensure optimal range of motion of your shoulders, postural support, and proper elasticity of your chest tissues.

  • We will support you through tucking, packing, taping, or any other gender-affirming practices that may be contributing to symptoms.
